Dementia
Dementia is the general term which describes loss of memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking abilities that interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia.
Our fingertips contain more than 3000 nerve receptors which are in constant direct communication with our brain through our body's somatosensory system. Unfortunately the many different conditions of Dementia (which include Alzheimer's disease) are medically proven to cause degeneration of the brain cells which over time results in confusion, agitation, memory loss and much more.
A benefit of using the Samboard Tactile Sensory Stimulation Pad is that it helps promote calmness in an individual by decreasing agitation and anxiety and resulting in a sense of well-being. In fact, research has shown that using tactile stimulation has shown improvement in short-term and long-term memory. This is particularly important with those with Dementia/Alzheimer's disease as it can also help to provide a chemical-free and natural enhancement of memory and cognition as well as their general mood and help improve quality of life.
